8 track tape vs cassette1/18/2024 That Motorola would play anything and never jammed or mislooped. So, my friends whose parents had the big Fords would give up trying to make the cassettes work in their family cars and give them to me. Those decks would kind of weaken or something and couldn't play certain cassettes, especially the ones that were red. I loved my Motorola 8-track player (aftermarket ) because it would play tapes that factory decks wouldn't play, particularly those that came in Ford products. In the 70's, Sony came out with the "elcassette" ( L or Large cassette ), about three times the size of a regular tape, made for high-end sound quality to replace reel-to-reel. This was before she discovered you could rig up a cord during duplication and then no one had to be quiet around the house. I can also remember her duplicating cassettes, and how I had to be quiet during this. Thanks everyone, and don't feel old.I can remember my mom copying reel-to-reel tapes for her class (she was a teacher ). Thanks everyone! Based on the dimensions you gave me, I think I'll buy one when I see a good one on Ebay that I think is priced right and not black, and ones where the partition goes all the way to the top of the box. Songs stopping in the middle of the song and having to hit the button to change tracks * In the final scene, Liz Taylor drives her Tiger.well, here it is: This explains why Butterfield 8* is still my all time favorite movie. (So was the Tiger-a Ford 240 CID V-8 wedged into a sports car chassis built normally for a 4 cylinder. BTW, had an 8 track mounted in a Sunbeam Tiger back in my pilot training days in AZ. Seems to me there was an early word processor that used a vertical standing monitor that looked a lot like a piece of paper that used an 8" floppy. ) I see the 12" LP (33 1/3 rpm ) vinyl record, but no 45 rpm or the older 78 rpm. I'll have to admit that the one-track is a new one, unless you are talking about a reel to reel. Hey now, there was a 4-track tape before the 8-track. We only had a one-track player and were GLAD TO HAVE THAT !! ) You young whippersnappers.Don't know about an 8 track tape. You don't want to store seed air-tight, do you ? 8 tracts were a short few yrs before I could have used them - but brothers and sisters had a good supply. I'm maybe too cheap to consider such an idea, when glass jars are free (recycled ) or tupperware (recycled ) and they seal tightly - and air tight, insect tight. I suddenly feel old explaining this to someone. They're bigger than a cigarette pack and smaller than a cigar box. This is guessing from memory, but I bet I have some somewhere yet ! Not sure-like 3- 1/2 " wide and 4- 1/2 long. Thanks for making me feel older-never saw one, huh- not even in a museum. I would guess 4 x 6 inches but I'm sure someone would have the real answer. Can someone give me the length x width of an 8-track cartridge in inches please? I don't want to get one of these on ebay and then have it not work for this purpose. I'm looking at 8-track cases on ebay and don't have an idea of how big an 8-track cartridge is (without the box it comes in ). It said an 8-track tape case is perfect for storing seed packets (as in, for a veggie garden ). Posted 19:54 (#2289074) Subject: How big is an 8-track tape? How big is an 8-track tape?
